Resort on coronavirus-free Bahamas island costs $300K/month

Kahari Resort in the Bahamas is on the market as a $300,000 rental for the month of August. Hey, Hamptons mansions regularly cost that much for a month, too, and the 45-acre property consists of 13 bungalows that can hold 25 people.

The hefty price tag includes round-the clock catering from top chef Johann Fritz Zwahlen. It’s located on remote Stocking Island, off the coast of Great Exuma, which has had zero coronavirus cases.

The broader Bahamas has had 104, with 11 deaths, according to the country’s health ministry.

The Bahamas is officially opening to tourists on July 1, so the resort is also available to rent weekly or monthly in July, says broker Neal Sroka, of Douglas Elliman.

It’s where tennis great Rafael Nadal and his now-wife, Maria Francisca Perelló, frolicked last year before their wedding. “You can get the entire compound, including food and water sports, for the price of a single Hamptons rental,” adds Sroka.

Water activities include bonefishing.

When asked to elaborate, Sroka quipped: “Bonefishing? I’m from Brooklyn. Ask me about gefiltefishing in Sheepshead Bay.”

In case you’re interested: bonefishing is done by wading in water or from a shallow draft boat. The fish are usually released, but they can also be eaten, usually baked with pepper sauce and salt.
